Historiallinen hotelli

Lähellä Steeple Astonia Oxfordshiressä sijaitseva The Holt Hotel rakennettiin vuonna 1475 valmennustaloksi, jossa oli vain 6 huonetta. Noin vuonna 1800 se kunnostettiin ensimmäisen kerran, ja nykyään siinä on 86 huonetta, mutta sen historiallinen ja perinteinen tunnelma on säilynyt.

Historiallisella Holt-hotellilla on varsin karmea historia, sillä sen silloiset omistajat murhattiin vuonna 1754 Claude Duvalin toimesta. Nykyään monet vieraat ovat kertoneet nähneensä Claude Duvalin haamun vaeltelevan tiloissa. Duval johti pahamaineista maantierosvoa ja oli vastuussa monista murhista. Jotkut vieraat ovat myös kertoneet kuulleensa raskaita askelia käytävillä tai tunteneensa, että heitä tarkkaillaan huoneissaan. Erityisesti eräs vieras kertoi tunteneensa sänkynsä tärisevän voimakkaasti, ja vuokranantaja on myös kuullut ääniä ullakolta.
